The ADOS Empowerment Project has built a strong network of community led organizations that are dedicated to improving the social welfare of descendants of chattel slavery and disenfranchised groups across the state of Mississippi.

Our 2025 Impact

The ADOS Empowerment Project’s mission is to promote civic engagement through community organizing and volunteerism. Here are some Milestones:

Rapid Response & Mutual Aid

Partnered with the Mississippi People’s Movement to deliver emergency relief, disaster assistance, and food distribution to families statewide.

Environmental Justice in Action

Collaborated with Dogwood Alliance and Greater Greener Gloster to stop biomass expansion threatening rural Black communities.

Honoring Our Legacy: Hurricane Katrina 20-Year Commemoration

Co-organized a remembrance ceremony in Benndale, Mississippi to honor lives lost and celebrate ongoing resilience.

Stewardship & Revitalization: East Biloxi Beautification Initiative

Through our partnership with Anthropocene Alliance and the Mississippi Stewardship Fund, we are restoring neighborhoods vulnerable to flooding and neglect.

Rapid Response

The ADOS Empowerment Project is committed to providing emergency services during climate disasters. Our rapid response efforts include Community Emergency Team trained volunteers who are ready to assist with disaster relief.

EF4 Deadly Tornado Response

A deadly EF4 hit Rolling Fork, Mississippi and surrounding areas with wind gusts of up to 200mph. ADOS Empowerment Project partnered with organizations within the Mississippi People’s Movement’s rapid response team to provide emergency services to Rolling Fork and Silver City, Mississippi.

Volunteer Relief Mobilization

Volunteers from the ADOS Empowerment Project traveled to Amory, Mississippi to deliver resources to tornado survivors in Aberdeen and Montgomery County.

Recovery & Damage Assessment

A severe EF2 tornado struck the city of Moss Point with winds up to 130 mph. Homes were destroyed and many of the residents were without electricity or water. Volunteers from the ADOS Empowerment Project, Mississippi People’s Movement, and Legacy Village traveled to Moss Point to assess the damage and help with recovery efforts.
